Egalite Intersex Ukraine is a non-for-profit public organization founded in 2014 by the group of enthusiasts of intersex people and their allies, who were worried about the situation in society regarding intersex-people. The organization is headed by an intersex person. In 2018, Egalite Intersex Ukraine acquired the status of the officially registered organization.
Egalite Intersex Ukraine conducts educational work among the general public through the organization of thematic meetings, interviews publications, the publication of thematic brochures and books.
In everyday life, the intersex people are not legally protected, and therefore are discriminated; they do not get qualified medical assistance. The reason for this situation is, first of all, the lack of knowledge and widespread ignorance of society about intersex-people, which are widely representative in the society. The dissemination of knowledge and extensive educational activities will give our fellow citizens the opportunity to find out that intersex people were and are among us and will always be as long as there is humankind. While conducting educational work, Egalite Intersex Ukraine at the same time provides expert and advisory support to intersex people.
The main ideas of the organization are humanism, tolerance, help, kindness, our goal – to achieve legal recognition of intersex people, to secure their legal protection, medical support, and the prohibition of surgical operations, aimed at “transforming” intersex people on typical women or men.
Intersex people have to live without being harassed and humiliated.
